Responsibilities:
• Lead the MIPS team development efforts; plan fielding of MIPS systems.
• Work with the program manager on accomplishing program tasks, schedule, technical issues, and risk.
• Lead the team to meet program milestones.
• Oversee development of CONOPS for collaboration between MIPS and BMD planning tools including C2BMC, GCCS-M, and Aegis Mission Planner (AMP).
• Overall enhancements, modifications and corrections to existing software.
• Coordinate and oversee coding, testing, integrating and documenting software solutions.
• Oversee and direct the research, design, development, and integration of Air and Missile Defense (AMD) related software models.
• Lead and support the development, integration, modeling and simulation of the MIPS system.
• Participate in team environment to design, develop, and enhance MIPS software, including full life cycle support (requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, debugging).
• Apply object-oriented design and development techniques in the C++ programming languages.
• Lead development of requirements and interface documentation.
• Work with stakeholders to identify program needs and shape the development efforts.
• Oversee and support system architecture design, and hardware trade studies and future proposal work.
• Lead testing, analysis, and fault isolation in response to issues identified during system integration.
• Oversee development of software scripts to perform post processing of data collected during system testing.
• Perform software requirements analysis, system integration activities; lead research; design, develop and test software and tools, including developing new products or enhancing existing applications, systems or embedded products.
• Perform technical planning, verification and validation of others’ work; cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
• Analyze all levels of total system product to include concept, design, architecture, user experience, test, installation, operation, maintenance.
• Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex solutions.
• Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into software solutions using the development lifecycle techniques or model that will yield optimal results (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
• Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, market trends, state of technology and industry, specifications and manuals, to determine feasibility of design or application.
• Apply and champion appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products.
• Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in internal review of software components and systems.
• Define the scope, schedule and expectations for the work they execute or lead.
• Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments for self and teams.
• Lead and guide the completion of major programs and projects.
• Creatively resolve significant, diverse, complex problems with of broad scope using ingenuity.
• Erroneous decisions or recommendations, or failure to accomplish results or errors typically will negatively impact business segment financial results and cause business segment to fail to achieve organizational objectives.
• Lead/direct/supervise lower level employees and teams.
• Lead small technical proposals and contributes to medium sized proposals.
• Frequently lead collaboration with senior management, leadership, organizations outside engineering, external customers, vendors, or suppliers.
• Occasional contact with Business Development.
• Travel may be required.
• Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise and senior internal and external personnel.
• Define and develop creative and innovative software architectures and solutions to address emerging challenges in systems-of-systems integration.
• Lead development of unit test software through both automated and manual testing techniques.
• Analyze test results to support verification & validation, regression testing, formal test events, and concept/feasibility studies.
• Oversee, investigate and resolve problems related to performance, consistency, and reliability.
• Lead development of documentation to capture requirements, technical concepts, software design, and user information.
• Deliver presentations to peers, team members and customers internal and external.

Qualifications:
• Required – Active Secret Clearance. Candidates without active clearance will not be considered.
• Experience leading a Group in developing software solutions.
• Experience with agile processes.
• Experience with full software lifecycle including code development, process management, GUI design, requirements analysis/ mapping (not development).
• Experience with mission planning.
• Seasoned, professional with wide range of professional experience and strong understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
• Expert at applying technical standards and methods to creatively resolve a wide range of issues.
• Demonstrate strong skills at helping company meet financial and business objectives by resolving complex issues in creative, effective and financially favorable ways.
• Able to work on diverse, complex problems using in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Detailed, strong knowledge of technology trends; champions new ideas and product and process improvements.
• Strong knowledge of software development process and software engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
• Strong knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDE), version control, defect reporting and scripting.
• Detailed knowledge of other related engineering and support disciplines.
• Strong ability to excel at the development of new theories and methods.
• Strong awareness of business objectives and Engineering's role in achieving.
• Strong ability to be creative, innovative and responsible, and able to master advanced decision-making skills.
• Strong ability to multi-task, and grasp and apply new information quickly.
• Shows initiative on assignments; professionally executes projects as a technical lead with little or no direction; frequently provides direction and leadership to technical teams; determines methods and procedures.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
