Estimator reports to Estimating Manager and reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized take off reports Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work. Inquires suppliers for material and subcontract costs Prepares and presents company's price proposal based on material and subcontract costs Consults with client to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Interfaces with other individuals and departments within the company to obtain support and commitments to the cost of estimates. Provides improvements recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce and future discrepancies between estimating and actual costs Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts Conducts work safely and follows all safety procedures.
Bachelor's degree or two-year degree equivalent is ideal. Requires: experience in estimating jobs for fabrication including: specification comprehension, blueprint reading, Term & Condition review, proposal writing & technical specification review. Must have: strong math and computer skills (specifically excel and word), excellent written and verbal communication skills, understanding of piping, fitting, welding and materials.
