Mechanical Engineer II- Support in production

Description:
PDS Tech, Inc is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, in York, PA.
Seeking Mechanical Engineers for its Artillery Vehicles and other combat vehicle Manufacturing efforts. This Mechanical Engineer position is located in York, PA.
  • The Mechanical Engineer is tasked to research, plan, analyze, design, and develop mechanical products and systems associated with military ground vehicles.
  • Analyzes mechanical and related systems in support of measurement, production, and transmission of energy. Uses advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, technical data packages, and integration and verification procedures.
  • Conducts and supports subsystem and system integration and verification activities and manufacturing planning.
  • Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices to meet customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements.


This position will be to support the ESIP group working issues with various IPT leads.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow and assist in the maintenance of procedures that will effectively respond to production Problem Reports.
  • Assure effective coordination between Production Support Engineering, Design Engineering, and related Design Support activities, such as Configuration Management, Logistics Producibility and Systems.
  • Maintain the Variance control process for production related or driven variations from the technical data package (TDP).
  • This includes obtaining Internal and Customer approval for subject Variances.
  • Analyze cost, quality, and schedule in developing the path forward for Variances and help develop and manage ESIP performance measures while providing status reports against assigned work.
  • Follow existing processes that reduce cost and schedule risks associated with implementing Variances into production.
  • Consider cost and schedule in all aspects of the process. Document cost and schedule analyses into the Variance forms as required.
  • Work with Design Engineering to prepare both non-complex and complex Variance documentation as required.
  • Be knowledgeable of the Manufacturing and Configuration Management System sufficient to assure consideration in any potential change or Variance.
  • Develop timely, complex and non-complex solutions to problems and coordinate effective “fixes” through Variances, MRB actions, standard and non-standard repairs and configuration notes.
  • Lead or assist in any assigned special projects and/or process improvement teams to improve work effectiveness and relationships between Design and Production (e.g.: improve Configuration Management of TDP and Re-man Drawings, develop and implement design change work flow processes within CM and EPDM System). Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Assist IPT leads with floor issues and design related issues. 

Skills/ Experience Required :
  • Experienced CREO CAD user •Entry level knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant technical field of specialization.
  • Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to create/maintain large Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to solve basic technical design and development problems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, who requires minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal  
  • 2 years work experience or equivalent experience 
  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience 


Skills Preferred :

  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to proactively coordinate multiple entities to achieve final deliverable.
  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Familiarity with CREO.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ASME Y14.5-2009
