PDS Tech is seeking an Engineering Aid for an open position in Stratford,CT.
Perform project management activities for a US Army Blackhawk FMS program in support of the FMS platform team. This position supports the platform Engineering Lead including responsibility for managing all engineering and technical aspects of the projects assigned. Supporting responsibilities include: • Co-ordinate engineering activities with lead engineers and multiple engineering groups: systems engineering, configuration management, functional engineering groups (i.e. avionics, electrical, mission equipment, airframe, propulsion, etc) ensuring that root cause and corrective action is implemented as required to bring issues to closure in accordance with cost, schedule, quality and technical performance requirements as agreed to by contract. • With support from systems engineering, responsible for the oversight of aircraft attributes, (weight/balance, R&M, dynamics and performance), technical design, and process engineering efforts, including Design to Cost (DTC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Affordability (DFA), compliance to Aviation Regulations and design qualification and the management of field technical and safety issues. • Responsible for managing all engineering, qualification requirements, configuration management and other technical aspects of the projects assigned with resource plans, SOW, compliance matrices, CDRLs, cost, schedules and risk management plans. • Act as an engineering interface for development, contracting and execution of new business opportunities with Programs and the US Government Business Office (USGBO) Proposal Center. • Oversee supplier development of hardware, software, and systems ensuring that contracts are executed within schedule, cost and performance requirements. • Develop, review and approve project metrics that measure engineering cost and schedule performance to contract and customer requirements utilizing EVMS (Earned Value Management System). • Prepare and present formal presentations to both internal and external customers.
EDUCATION: Bachelor in Engineering or related technical field, MS Eng/MBA preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of engineering/manufacturing background and/or project management background. Earned value experience, Process Excellence and aerospace experience with emphasis in electrical and avionics preferred.
