Electric Drive System (CAM) - Engineer

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a candidate for the AERO E&T- Engineer position located in Torrance, CA.

Senior Project Engineer responsible for design, development, implementation. Performs project Earned Value System Cost Account Management (CAM) duties on engineering projects. . Generates changes for schedules, budgets, and Estimates To Complete on a regular basis. Requires an engineering bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of experience in the engineering field. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures such as Microsoft Project, schedules, earned value systems, and generation of estimates for engineering work . May interface with vendors/suppliers to procure electronic hardware parts needed to complete engineering work. Typically reports to an engineering manager. 

Job Responsibilities: 
Provides electrical motor controller and actuator controller project engineering function for Electric Drive Systems in Torrance, California 
• Responsible for the execution and oversight of long-term electric drive systems motor and actuator controller engineering projects. 
• Performs control account management (CAM) activities for assigned projects or relevant subproject segments. Plans, estimates, and schedules engineering work. 
• Collects and presents earned value tracking status for assigned projects. Manages project resources and compiles cumulative project Schedule Performance Index and Cost Performance Index (SPI/CPI) status. 
• Generates program change requests for new project subtasks and tracking for program budget changes. 
• Presents monthly program reviews and reports status with director level manager. 
• Requests resources for electrical circuit design, and electrical systems engineering to match project man-loading levels, 
• Plans schedules and budgets to accomplish motor and actuator controller project tasks. Ensures that all assigned program milestones are tracked and schedules are met on-time and on budget. 
• Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and generally a minimum of 7 years experience in a related project engineering or systems engineering area or 3 years with a PhD degree. 
• Strong project management skills including master level usage of Microsoft Project is mandatory. Creates and presents PowerPoint charts for status. 
• Familiar with a variety of project engineering concepts, practices, and procedures such as Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), Control Account Management (CAM), Earned Value Management and Reporting, and engineering cost estimation. 
• Knowledge of obsolescence parts replacement, identification of substitute parts, making related board level drawing changes, and updating test procedures. 
Functions may include: 
• Ability to support multiple related subproject phases, organizing team for hands-on troubleshooting and investigation of customer returns for fielded units, oversight of white papers to document investigations with comprehensive root cause analysis, making recommendations for corrective actions, and documenting test results and findings. 
• Coordinates and leads problem and issue investigations for hardware/systems, including troubleshooting of development and production units, and managing lab hardware set up, equipment, and technician activities. 
• Experience with SAP for documenting factory process build and assembly steps a plus. 
Basic Qualifications: 
• BS EE or Systems Engineering or Control Systems or Computer Engineering or Project Engineering, or a similar engineering degree 
• Minimum 4-6 years Systems/Electrical Engineering project experience with orientation towards electro-mechanical aircraft systems design or PH.D combined with 2 years experience. Knowledge of motor controllers, actuators, and power electronics desired. 
• Project engineering experience estimating, planning, scheduling, and implementing budget control for engineering work. 
• Basic understanding level of circuit design, circuit card building, test and failure analysis. 
• US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident required due to export restrictions 

Additional Qualifications: 
• Experience with root cause and corrective action process 
• Ability to produce white papers to document findings, and results of trade studies 
• Composition of PowerPoint presentations for peer reviews, team meetings, program design reviews, and phase gate activities 
• Familiarity with aircraft and aerospace testing standards, such as DO-178B, DO-160 desired. 
• Knowledge of systems and project engineering best practices, systems integration, verification of requirements, and validation of system functionality
