Advanced Design Drafting Technician

Advanced Design Drafting Technician
(US Citizenship Required*)

Responsibilities:
• Create new and/or revises existing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, and bills of material for our products
• Determine scaling; insert necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning; prepare specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations; prepare complete production detail drawings; contribute design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations
• Check drawings versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standard engineering drafting practices and standards
• Work with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation
• Create Engineering Change Notices detailing changes to released designs, update drawings / models / BOMs as needed, and route change requests through the approval process
• Create and revise documentation detailing assembly and/or testing
• Work within project plans and under minimal supervision
• Produce, change, or check simple to semi-complex mechanical drawings and assemblies
• Research, generate, and check drawing changes
• Research and interface with vendors on products that meet job design requirements
• Use Engineering Change database to implement changes in a design document to cut costs where needed and record changes to improve on a product
• May provide work leadership to lower level drafters
• Handle unexpected demands and adapt to new situations
• Assist engineers in the design and development of complex and detailed layouts of printed circuit boards
• Participate in developing designs of new or modified high-density printed circuit boards
• Work from preliminary schematics, part lists, and basic description of the board function, configuration, and arrangement as defined by engineering
• Instruct drafter in the completion of drawings and specifications
• May perform the checking of design layouts and detailed drawings
• May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage
• May define design standards and configurations
• Career level position

Qualifications:
• Considerable knowledge of design principles and techniques including computer aided design (CAD)
• Trained/ experienced in using current strategic CAD tools (Pro-E/Creo or Solid Works preferred)
• Considerable knowledge of design documentation standards (e.g ASME Y14.5M, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Considerable knowledge of simple mechanical stress; structural, thermal and tolerance analysis
• Considerable knowledge of material requirements, fabrication techniques, and manufacturability
• Considerable problem solving and collaborative skills
• Demonstrates initiative, applies personal talent to practical solutions
• Works within the trade space defined (cost / schedule / technology)
• Applies knowledge effectively in team environment
• Able to accept and integrate constructive feedback
• Demonstrates the ability to weigh risks and make progress in the face of uncertainty
• Willingly takes on problems and commits to solutions
• Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Considerable written and verbal communications skills
• Fulfills role as a reliable team member and understands own role within team
• Manages time to ensure an assignment's completion

Education and Experience:
• Associate's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
