Aerospace Engineer - Powerplant & FIFA

Description:
The Aerospace Engineer, Powerplant & FIFA position located here in Moses Lake, WA is responsible for supporting the development and TC test pertaining to the Propulsion System including the Nacelle and Engine Build-up (EBU), Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), and the Aircraft Fuel System. This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.



Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Support Flight Testing Activities, including but not limited to:
Discuss and review test plans and preparation activities.
Help determine test specifications (based upon system architecture).
Attend Ground/Flight Test briefing and debriefings
Participate in Test Readiness Reviews and ensure on-time Engineering deliverables.
Generate developmental engineering drawings and instrumentation change requests as required.
Monitor live flight data, typically via telemetry, during flight test on aircraft.
Create and review Aircraft Restrictions
Create and review Aircraft Troubleshooting
Create, review and approve ground test procedures, flight test procedures and their corresponding test reports.
Coordinate with suppliers to review technical data, certification requirements and troubleshoot any issues with supplies.
Process, analyze, and draw conclusions from post flight data.
Identify non-conformances, quality escapes, etc. to create rejection tags.
Make assessments to ensure safety of flight determination.
Document flight test design problems for long term fix.
Generate and review appropriate limitations documentation.
Write flight test results reports.
Complete special projects and tasks assigned by Group Lead.


Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong Knowledge of flight test operations and flight certification, including:
Propulsion System Integration and Certification.
APU and Tailcone Integration and Certification.
Compliance to requirements for; Powerplant / APU Installation, Engine Oil and Fuel System, FADEC, Engine Operating Characteristics, Negative G, Rotorlock Screening, In-flight Restarts, Engine Performance, Cooling and Ventilation, Drainage, Engine / APU Inlet Distortion, Water Ingestion, Fireworthiness, and Thrust Reverser Endurance.
Aircraft Fuel Systems Design, Integration and Certification.
Experience with; Fuel Vent System, Negative G, Cold Soak / Cold Weather Operation, Ullage and Sump Volume, Fuel System Performance, and Fuel Icing Rig.
Well versed with 14 CFR Part 25 and EASA CS-25 certification process.

Education

Four (4) year degree in Engineering (Aerospace or Mechanical).
Other Engineering fields may be considered.
Experience

Four (4) years aerospace Relevant aerospace engineering experience in propulsion systems including the Nacelle and Engine Build-up (EBU), Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), and the Aircraft Fuel System.
