Transportation Engineer

Join our Packaging, Handling and Transportability (PH&T) department as a Transportability Engineer within the Log, Test and Evaluation (LT&E) organization.

Responsibilities:
• Single Transportability POC and company representative during program level meetings, engineering milestone reviews and other significant events
• Decompose system level transport requirements down to subsystem and critical item development specs
• Perform multi-modal transport analyses and develop assessments throughout vehicle development cycle, utilizing modeling and mathematical calculations
• Provide early design guidance to maximize transport capability and requirement compliance
• Support transport validation as required.
• Support estimating (bids and proposals), project planning and prioritization, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling and execution of all Transportability assignments
• Monitor project performance for budget, schedule and technical performance
• Communicate and interact with internal and external customers
• Support company initiatives such as Request for Proposals (RFPs), Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) initiatives
• Develop analysis, document findings, deliver transport certification documentations.
• Author and present briefing material at management reviews and program milestones.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrate working knowledge of DI-PACK 80880C Transport Report, ATTLA Data Sheets, Transport Characteristics Matrix, MIL-STD-209.
• Experience with practical application of supporting military transportation movements. This could be highway, rail, marine and/or air transport movements.
• Experience with relational databases and 3D modeling software (Visualization Mockup, Solidworks)
• Able to decompose complex issues, interpret scope and estimate required work load based on timing needs
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting in both formal and informal settings
• Able to prioritize assignments and multi-task on multiple programs
• Strong decision-making skills
• Experience in military programs
• Experience in a team-oriented environment, while working with internal and external customers
• Working knowledge of Army Logistics and Vehicle Platforms
• Willing to travel (domestic, minimal) and work OT (as required) to ensure deliverables are met

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Other degrees will be considered with relevant experience.
